Novo Nordisk’s UK business made a post-tax profit of £15.8m in the 2025 calendar year, with private sales of Wegovy a key driver according to the company’s directors.
Published on July 11, Novo Nordisk UK’s accounts for the year to December 31, 2025 reveal that pharmaceutical sales were up by 15.2 per cent on the previous year, climbing from £526m to £595m.
This was driven by the popularity of injectable weight loss drug Wegovy, company directors said, adding: “The rest of the portfolio has been in decline due to market deceleration, the announcement of the discontinuation of some insulins (Levemir and Insulatard) and higher competition in the injectable GLP-1 segment.”
Novo Nordisk UK is solely concerned with sales and marketing on behalf of the wider Denmark-headquartered group, from which it purchases goods.
Commenting on the company’s future plans, the directors said: “Novo Nordisk Limited aspires to further raise the innovation bar for diabetes treatment and develop a leading portfolio of superior treatment solutions for obesity.
“The company is also looking to strengthen and progress the rare disease pipeline and establish presence in other serious chronic diseases focusing on cardiovascular diseases (CVD), metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and chronic kidney failure (CKD).”
The financial report stated: “Novo Nordisk Limited continued to deliver on its commitment to improve the lives of people with diabetes and other chronic diseases during 2025.
“The directors are satisfied with the company's performance during the year and with its prospects for the future.”
The months since the end of the 2025 accounting period have seen Novo Nordisk secure regulatory approval for its oral Wegovy product, which launched for private patients in the UK in June as the first product of its kind and is expected to have a positive impact on the company’s profits.
